This championship has become the most renowned in the Canary Islands and one of the most important championships Spain wide. With many participants, captures and the best organisation, an event you cannot miss!

This great event has been able to integrate and combine elite fishing with the popular festivities on the island, where year after year the participation of the inhabitans of Tuineje and the rest of the island of Fuerteventura has been overwhelming.

We would like to remind  you, that as in previous years, Deportes Pineda had a personal stand available for direct sales as well as reel and rod services (rewinding and  assembly) and lures assembly. 

Around 6000 visitors where present during this championsip. The ¨cráter¨ based at the port of Puerto del Carmen on the island of Lanzarote and as captain of the ship Antonio Correa, was proclaimed the winner of this XVI Deep Sea Fishing championship  edition (capture, marking and release) of Gran Tarajal.  They captured and brought to shore a BlueMarling of 299.6 Kg.

With a total of  70 contacts and 30 captures during these three days of competition, this championship has become one of the most important championships in Europe, according to Félix Sánchez Delgado, representative of the Spanish Fishing Federation.

Friday, the first day of this championship, started with little wind and a calmed sea. In total there where 24 contacts of which 7 where photographed and 2 where taken to shore; a blue marlin captured by ¨Pepita de Oro¨  which is based in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria and a Dorada of 8.8 kg captured by ¨Maynieves¨ with homebase in Puerto Calero Lanzarote with captain Alfonso Valls, did not meet with the minimum weight requiered for the capture, resulting in points deduction for both ships.

Saturday started with a bit more wind and a rougher sea. The 82 boats sailed from the port of Gran Tarajal at 9 a.m. without any difficulties.

A total of 21 contacts where counted on this day, of which 13 where blue marlins. All 6000 visitors of this XVI Fishing Championship could watch from shore the arrival of the different boats and their capture, including that of the winner, that captured a blue marling with a weight of almost 300 kg.

We would like to notice that the boat ¨Alma de Blanca Luna¨ based at the port of Pasito Blanco in Gran Canaria and with captain Armando Santana, photographed two captures at the same time, a white and blue marlin, something that is not very common

The Boat ¨Cráter¨ is proclamed the winner of the Deep Sea Fishing championship of Gran Tarajal with a blue marling of 299.6 kg.

The president of the Canary government, Paulino Rivero, the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura Mario Cabrera and the mayor of the village of Tuineje Salvador Delgado, where the ones in charge of the closing ceremony of the XVI Deep Sea Fishing Championship of Gran Tarajal 2010.

Child Championship
On Saturday up to 60  kids participated in this championship. We would like to point out, that it has been very well received amongst the younger ones. This championship is trying to get trough to the kids and show them that fishing is one of our great sports  and that they have to release that what they capture, once marked.
